Mark Sikstrom

Senior Consulting Editor, Practice & Review Committee
Calgary
ABOUT

Mark Sikstrom is an expert in fairness and balance in the media.

Mark was the Editor of Journalistic Policies and Practice for CTVNews, Canada’s largest broadcaster for more than a decade.

He is a member of the Ethics Committee for the R.T.N.D.A., the association of news directors.

Mark is a frequent judge for the Edward R. Murrow News awards, the R.T.D.N.A best in journalism awards, the Canadian Association of Journalists and the Canadian Screen Award competitions.

Now in private practice, Mark regularly advises major corporations on ethical policy.

Fairness and balance is the foundation of accurate reporting. Most major media organizations make this their standard. But in today’s social media landscape, those checks and balances don’t always apply. When unfair reporting occurs, people need a way to tell their story in an authoritative forum. The Principal Post offers expert review and advice on how to defend your reputation.
