Moral compass: Of course! Integrity, compassion, love and impact. My hope is we all recognize that we’re called to have a moral compass. That’s how we build community, people, business, etc. What natural talent have you neglected? My singing voice. I do use it in the shower, and around close friends and the people I love, after enough tequila at karaoke! I think I could sing well if I really wanted to!
Eyes wide open, because that’s how I try to see life and people, open and full. I’ll make that same face if perhaps my expectations aren’t met! Wide, cheesy smile because I find that I’m smiling most of the time.
Who has had the greatest influence on your life? My grandmother, Mary. She was my soulmate before I knew soul mates existed. And my girlfriends, the women I surround myself with. What is your favorite app? My calendar. Also my least favorite. What is your go-to source of news and information? ABC News, NBC News, New York Times, NPR, podcasts. Instagram keeps you connected to news that is relevant and necessary, as well as the ratchet.
What change are you working on to effect in your profession or field? Yes! Normalizing health, wellness and anti-stress for black and brown women. What mega-trend most excites you? Excited that women are having more deliberate and open conversations about mental health and sexual wellness--and that people are leaning into their health and wellness with recognition that we cannot divorce ourselves from our spirit selves. What mega-trend most concerns you? There’s a lot of noise and talk, especially because of the proliferation and growth of social media, and not a lot of listening.
What actor would you choose to play you in the movie about your life? Gabrielle Union. Who would you like to spend an evening with, in Heaven? My grandparents, my pop pop. What object would you save first from your burning home? Seriously?! This would terrify me! My phone, computer and artwork.
Personal mission: Less of a mission than a purpose: to empower women to see themselves fully. Desired epitaph: She lived, loved and learned.
