Latest contribution to others: Donating monthly to a faith-based institution which provides meals and shelter for the homeless. Hobbies: Skiing, live music, playing drums, astronomy, weightlifting, travel. Recent travel or adventure: Ireland and Northern Ireland. Incredible scenery, especially the Giant’s Causeway.
What is your greatest joy? My son and my daughter. What is your greatest fear? That my kids will not have a happy, healthy, fulfilling life. I pray this for them every day. What is your guilty pleasure? Splurging for great seats for my favorite bands. What natural talent have you neglected? Math and Physics. Much more difficult than medicine, in my opinion. What occupation, other than your own, do you most admire? Those who serve our country in the military. What is your favorite place (or way) to spend money? Travel. Especially abroad, and particularly, Europe. What is at the top of your bucket list? It’s hard to imagine, but the ultimate experience would be going to space. What ingredient is essential to your perfect vacation? A touch of randomness. Something off the beaten path.
What was your first paying job? Inventory at a science and technology company. What was your favorite college course? Quantum Mechanics. I had a fantastic professor and I still look at some tests I’ve kept. What was your favorite childhood toy or game? The first Nintendo system. Those video games were classic, and I bonded with so many of my friends over them. What movie have you repeatedly watched? The original Star Wars trilogy. Couldn’t get enough of it as a kid. Had all the toys. What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? MRI. It makes imaging with X-rays look like a primitive technology. What world event has had the greatest influence on your life? 9/11. Everything was different after that.
I’d like to see another model rather than having the two major traditional political parties in the US. We’re a country divided right now.
What message do you want to send out into the world? Be tolerant of your neighbor. Regardless of age, gender, race, religion, where they came from, what they do for a living or who they voted for. What mega-trend most excites you? Artificial intelligence. It can be an incredible tool. The possibilities are endless, perhaps too endless. What mega-trend most concerns you? Artificial intelligence. What jobs are in jeopardy in the future because of AI? There’s not a lot you can’t train a computer to do. It’s a scary thought.
Who would you like to spend an evening with, in heaven? Jesus is too obvious of a choice, so maybe I’d go with Albert Einstein. As a kid, what did you first want to be when you grew up? A professional basketball player. After your loved ones, what object would you first save from your burning home? Old videos that can’t be replaced, like my wedding video, college videos, or some from my childhood. What day in your life would you choose to re-live? My wedding day. All of our loved ones and friends together, seemingly in their prime.
