Current project: Increasing access to interpreter services in health care delivery. Latest accomplishment: Co-chairing a national diversity, equity and inclusion task force for nursing. Latest contribution to others: Led a drive to collect personal hygiene products for the community from the C-Suite at my organization. The foundation got on it as well and contributed. What’s been your big (or biggest) leap? Becoming the VP in my organization. I knew I was capable, but never aspired for the title; I just wanted the opportunity to do the work. The title I have is aligned with the type of work that I wanted and felt most called to do. Hobbies: Creating, reading, and dance. Recent travel or adventure: Taking my teen daughter to a concert. What natural talent have you neglected? Singing. I'm taking lessons now to fix this. How do you relieve stress? Prayer, meditation, walking among the trees. NPR Up First, Harvard Business Review, Flipboard app and my husband (he loves politics, history, and nature). What is your go-to source of creative inspiration? My husband says, my brain. My podcast is called, "I Been Thinkin’'". My brain goes a hundred miles an hour, taking in the beauty and the suffering around me, and my desire to make a difference. What company or organization do you most admire? Those that help the oppressed and overlooked. What world event has had the greatest influence on your life? Having a stroke when I was 36 years old and major brain surgery. That taught me how to start living.
