Current project: Launching my company and writing my first book. Recent recognition: Points of Light Institute Honoree #4454 for volunteer work in education. Recent professional development: Joined Chief, the only private membership network focused on connecting and supporting women executive leaders. Latest accomplishment: Successful roll-out and adoption of Agile methodology to global organization, despite the pandemic. Latest contribution to others: Serving twelve years as public School Board trustee (six of those as President). The BEST contribution to the children, families and district staff ever! What’s been your big (or biggest) leap? Leaving the security of corporate life to launch my own consulting business, Diamond Solutions Group, LLC. Recent unique acquisition: Just purchased a tiny home in Florida to spend winter months in the sunshine.
Personality profile: Anything is possible. What is your greatest joy? Gathering family and friends for a holiday, event or just a game night. What natural talent have you neglected? Cooking and hosting dinner parties.
What is at the top of your bucket list? Owning a seaside ice cream shop. What ingredient is essential to your perfect vacation? Seaside sunrises. What is your go-to workout? Running (in nature). Clears my mind and solves everything!
What’s featured prominently on your home or office wall? Photos of my three children, who are my greatest joy and my proudest gifts to the world. Who has had the greatest influence on your life? My mom, who was always optimistic about every situation and found a way to make things work out, no matter what. What is the best advice you received in your career? Work for, and with, people who are confident in their own contributions and not threatened by your skills and talents, so you feel valued and supported in being authentically yourself, always. What modern technology innovation do you most appreciate? My Echelon spin bike and rower and the connection to a community of fitness-oriented friends.
What change are you working on to effect in your profession or field? Change is not merely “managed” (as in OCM/Organizational Change Management); rather, teams can be successfully led THROUGH change. That’s being a true change agent. What widely held belief do you reject? “It is what it is”. So, I always end that statement with “and it will become what we make it!” What mega-trend most concerns you? The proliferation of opinion sharing without appropriate consideration of others.
Who would you like to spend an evening with, in heaven? My mom, who died before I was mature enough to appreciate all her wisdom. What object would you first save from your burning home? Assuming my human loved ones could get out on their own, then my fur babies next. After that, my external hard drive of family photos & videos. What advice would you give your younger self? Recognize sooner when you are wasting your time and tears on people who are so self-concerned that they can not appreciate and support the amazing person that you are. What day in your life would you like to re-live? Three: the birth of each of my children. What period in your life would you do differently, if you could? Late thirties through early forties.
Personal mission: Maintain the generosity to presume good intentions always. Personal motto: Be the water, not the rocks. Favorite quote: "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give" (Winston Churchill).
